Assessments at Kids Counseling, PC are primarily for youth suspected of having Selective Mutism. Evaluations may be helpful in identifying speech and language development, cognitive functioning, and academics to access school supports through a 504 Plan, accommodations, or an individualized education plan to assist children who remain nonverbal at school.
Assessment measures include the Selective Mutism Questionnaire and the School Speech Questionnaire by R. Lindsey Bergman and colleagues. Parents also complete the Frankfurt Scale of Selective Mutism by A. Gensthaler and C. Schwenck, Spence Children's Anxiety Scale, and the Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children 2nd Edition for children age 8 and above.
